Are You the Dreamer? ... Or the Dreamed? Dream Coaching
Dream coaching (Dreamwork) is fully integrated
into Soulwork systemic coach training.
Dreaming may be older than human consciousness. You can
watch sleeping babies and sleeping animals move their limbs and
body, and make unusual sounds. Your dreams may seem to assimilate or
integrate events or evaluate future possibilities. Dreams seem to be one way
that you make sense of your relationship with your world.
Your conscious mind is limited to holding about seven
things in consciousness - according to psychologists. It seems that your
unconscious mind (body-mind) can simultaneously manage millions.
(Many books
have been written about analyzing the content of dreams, as if your unconscious
mind uses the same symbols as the author, regardless of your history, family and
cultural background.)

When a person
wants personal success, he may dream alone; if more people are
involved, they can learn to dream together Teresa

Daydreams & Visualization
Can you imagine yourself lying on a beach enjoying the sun or
perhaps walking in the mountains on a crisp morning? Can you daydream and
picture yourself in places you'd like to go to, or doing things you enjoy or
have always wanted to try?
Athletes often do this before a competition. They
imagine themselves skiing a hill or moving through their gymnastic movements.
They see themselves doing each move perfectly and winning an award.
The Harvard Business School surveyed recent graduates about
their goals and again ten years later. Graduates with clear goals were making two
to ten times the income of their classmates. This is an example of directed
daydreaming.
Hawaiian Dreamtime: Moe'uhane
For the healing kahuna of old Hawaii, unusual or recurring
dreams were considered significant, and worthy of exploration. To better recover
the details of a dream, and to find the meanings, a kahuna might join a person
within a dream. This Hawaiian dreamwork is called moe'uhane -
dreams of the spirit or lucid dreaming - and is a potent key to open the door
of Hawaiian Spirituality.
We have thoroughly explored and extended this concept since
1988, and we developed useful methods for using dreams for coaching, psychotherapy
and personal development. Soulwork Dream Coaching requires a deep respect for people.
Our responses are persistently and phenomenally positive. People resolve unpleasant
recurring dreams while making "dreaming" a wonderful activity.
(Dream coaching is integrated into Soulwork Systemic Coaching.)
Dreamscape & Nightmares
If you ask us for help, we will ask you about your problems
and goals. If you cannot answer, we may offer to
dream with you. We may gently enter your
dreamscape, to together understanding the often-confused
imagery. In this way, we can offer possibilities for helping you integrate your
conflicts, dissolve your relationship bonds or remedy unresolved trauma.
Systemic dream coaching also offers lasting solutions for unpleasant dreams
and recurring nightmares.
Dream Coaching
Entering your dream can be like entering Pandora's
Box. Neither you nor I know what to expect in your dream. Forget those
books of interpretations of dream symbols.
We often find that an event or symbol in your dream have many messages, and
rather different messages than the "obvious".
Dreamwork Coaching is no place for arrogance! (See also Chaos
Coaching and
Quantum Thinking).
Maybe you are simply curious about an unusual, repetitive or well
remembered dream. If you have unpleasant
emotions or if you have recurring dreams of misery, death or monsters - perhaps contact
us.
(Note that dreaming together within a disturbed person's nightmare can be traumatic for the
unskilled.)
Coaching Sleepy Clients
Dreamwork Case History
While teaching a class on Dreamwork at a university in Las Vegas, a female
student asked to be a demonstration subject. She described a recurrent dream of
being chased by a vampire. During our dreaming together, instead of her running away
in terror, we met and chatted with the vampire. The vampire
explained that he was her keeper of
power, and as the woman was avoiding her power, he followed her.
The vampire offered the woman his cloak - jet-black with bright red
trim. She put on the cloak and felt immediately resourceful. She said
that never before had she felt so powerful. The now-friendly vampire offered
deep advice about the woman's lifestyle.
The following week, the woman reported that she could easily access
and maintain her powerful state. She soon made a series of beneficial
changes in her family and personal relationships.
