This old stone house is registered as a protected cultural heritage and
previously belonged to the village blacksmith. I have used
this house for five summers and I enjoyed renovating it. A wood burning
stove with a brick chimney keeps me warm on cool days. An oak and glass double-door
leads from the balcony to a 8m² hallway.
I combined two rooms to make a large 30m² (5m x 6m) front room. The 18m²
kitchen has beautiful oak-fronted cabinets and two windows. A new septic tank
was installed this year (2011) and the large front room was fitted with
double glazed windows.
The bathroom / toilet includes a shower, sink and WC.
A new septic, windows and ceilings were professionally installed, and the
rooms professionally painted. The beautiful old interior doors were
professionally restored. It is very comfortable.
The full
attic offers another 60m² space for more bedrooms, storage, etc. The garden
includes a stone ruin that can be rebuilt into a guest-house or garage without
planning permission.
A main floor extension provides a useful work space for arts and crafts,
and the basement has another 90 m² of storage space that can
be used for gardening
equipment, firewood, tools, etc. I use the front balcony to store firewood. The outside stairs and
balcony railings were replaced last year.
The well-loved, productive garden is within a stone wall and includes a large
concrete water cistern with a manual pump. It produces an abundance of flowers, herbs,
tomatoes and plums and has many established perennial flowers and shrubs.
The
field can provide most of your potatoes, beans, peas, corn, lettuce etc.
(Both garden and field have been fertilized with compost and mulch - not
chemical fertilizers or pesticides.) Tasty vegetables!
The road to the village ends in the village -
there is no through traffic and it is safe for children and pets.
On most mornings, fresh bread (often still warm)
is delivered to the village - and fresh fish a few times each week.
