Your peace and wellbeing are of the highest importance. All our trips are led by a trained guide. We ensure your comfort and safety as we take you where you want to go. Prior to your trek, we send you information relevant to your health, the locale, climate, food, and what to bring. Relax - you will trek to high altitudes with guides trained in mountain safety and first aid. We design our treks to ensure that you acclimatize, and we arrange alternative itineraries for those at risk.

We make every effort to follow this itinerary, but as this is an adventure in a remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it. Weather conditions, river conditions, road conditions, vehicle breakdowns and the health of group members can contribute to changes. We try to ensure that each trip runs according to plan; and your easygoing attitude is our greatest asset!

Ghorepani - Poon Hill 7-day Trek

Ghorepani - Poon Hill Trek is a wonderful trek into the Annapurna region. Your trail winds through patchwork valleys, dense mossy forests and past icy waterfalls. You get many tantalizing views of the high Himalaya mountains, and find whole horizons open to you on the trek's high points.

The Annapurna region and Poon Hill offer some of the best trekking in Nepal. Enjoy walking through spectacular mountain scenery - through charming Nepalese villages, dense rhododendron forests full of birds and sub-tropical valleys, below the Annapurna mountains where picturesque Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail Peak) dominates the skyline. (The reality of Poon Hill is overwhelming - better than any picture). This trek can be made all year, even in winter when higher treks are impossible.

We climb Poon Hill at dawn to enjoy one of the most spectacular mountain-scapes on Earth.

Peak Experience: As the rising sun touches the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna (8,091m) and other mountains slowly manifest out of the dark, like magic before your eyes. Don't miss this.

If you enjoy nature, mountains and beautiful landscapes, you will enjoy this rewarding
and relatively easy trek. We can arrange longer and more demanding treks to your taste.

7-day Trek Outline

Day 1 : Kathmandu to Pokhara (910m/2986ft)
Breakfast. Our guide will arrive at our hotel at 06:30 am to get us moving and we taxi or bus to Kathmandu airport for our flight to Pokhara.

We fly to Pokhara (200 km, 30 minutes) and enjoy an afternoon sightseeing and boating at Phewa lake. Note that airport delays are common and that there is a nice restaurant between the terminals at Kathmandu airport. We overnight at a resort or hotel in Pokhara.

Day 2 : Breakfast in Pokhara, then we drive an hour or so to Naya Pul and trek to Tikhe Dhunga (1495m/4905ft). From Naya Pul we commence our trek to Birethanti, a town by the Modi River. We head up the trail to Sudami where we climb gradually up the side of the valley, reaching Hile (1495m) before moving on to Tirkhe Dhunga. From here our trail crosses a stream and then ascends a steep stone staircase to the Magar village of Ulleri (2070m). 3:30 hours. We overnight at Indra guest house or Chandra guest house.

Day 3 : Trek to Ghorepani (2850m/9350ft)
This is a pleasant walking day; after breakfast we trek through rhododendron and oak forests and across streams before making a short climb to Nangethanti. From Nangethanti we head up to Ghorepani (2850m). 5:30 hours. We overnight at Sunny Lodge or Poon Hill guest house.

Day 4 : Ghorepani to Poon Hill to Tadapani (2520m/8268ft)
An early start and a one hour hike up Poon Hill (3195m) leads us to a brilliant spectacle, an unobstructed view of sunrise over the high Himalayas. After spending about an hour on the hill, we return to Ghorepani for a hot breakfast, and walk to Tadapani. The trail climbs along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (2960m). We descend to Banthanti, before winding our way to Tadapani (2540m). 6 hours. We overnight at Hotel Panorama or Hotel Grand view.

Day 5 : Tadapani to Ghaundrung (1950m/6398ft)
After breakfast we descend to the village of Ghaundrung around noon. We overnight here so we have an afternoon to visit the Annapurna conservation museum and explore the village. 2:30 hours

Day 6 : Ghaundrung to Pokhara via Pothana (1910m/6266ft) and Phedi (910m/2986ft)
The last part of our trek is through the village of Pothana (2110m) and then to Phedi (950m). On arrival in Phedi, our bus meets us and takes us back to Pokhara. 5:30 hours

Day 7 : Pokhara to Kathmandu
Flight to Kathmandu from Pokhara. Pokhara airport is about 6km away from our hotel and the plane takes about 30 minutes to fly to Kathmandu airport. You return to your Kathmandu accommodation.

Each trek is led by a bilingual guide.
