- List 5 to 10 goals that you really want.
The prioritize them and mark
the most important. If you want to work on one issue first, ensure it is the
most important - especially if it is a goal that enables other important
goals or makes other goals possible - e.g. control chronic anger.
- Write your top THREE coaching goals in short, clear
words. E.g., if your top goal is happy family, ask yourself how
you want us to
help you. Do you want to change your habits, find a new partner, change a relationship,
generate new ideas, or what?
- Take full responsibility for your life - and
for your
future. We are not responsible for your past - we help people create their futures. Don't expect us to do your work for you.
That's your job!
- Reach for your goals. We are goal-oriented
and we coach action. If your goal is friendship, we can enjoy talking with you about your past, your
life philosophy etc. We will listen carefully and offer you
feedback before we explore how to create your future.
- Ask us questions and request what you want. We may ask
you unusual questions to
expose important insights, and we may make unreasonable requests to provoke
or motivate you.
- Deal with what you can before your session. We rarely
need to know much of your history to coach you to achieve your
goals. Your success is more in your future than in your past.
- Prepare - help us focus on you and your goals ...
fill out a preparation form (below) before your first session and e-mail to us it so that we have
your background information.
- Review each coaching session. We can both explore what you got out of
your session, and we can both focus on
what we can accomplish in the next meeting.
- Feedback - let us know what is of most
value to you. Let us know what's not working and what is less valuable to
you.
- Breakthrough = Insight + Action! Insight without action is like a
kiss on the cheek; briefly interesting but not very profound. Focus on action!
When
you have insight into your life, use it!
